Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is responsible for hiring, employee benefits, safety, and payroll. The City of Muscle Shoals Civil Service Board was created by the State legislature, and their duties are to hire new employees, make promotions, and hear grievances and appeals from city employees. The board is responsible for hiring all employees, excluding the department heads, who are hired by the Mayor and Council. Our employees are very important to our city, and the Human Resources Department is available to assist and support all employees. 

The City of Muscle Shoals participates in E-Verify, in compliance with a federal law to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all persons hired to work in the United States.
